ORTIGIA Sicilia

Ortigia is an Italian company of soaps and fragrances founded in Sicily in 2006 by Sue Townsend.
The luxurious range of soaps, scents, creams, candles, and lotions is formulated using natural ingredients native to Sicily, inspired by the aesthetic, colors, and aromas of Italy’s most historic and tropical region.
The perfumes are distilled from Sicilian flowers by master perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi.
The base of all products is natural perfume and ingredients such as olive oil, vegetable glycerin, and organic dyes.
They contain no SLS, nickel, or silicone, are not tested on animals, and are paraben-free.
The collection combines traditional craftsmanship with modern ethics and integrity.
All Ortigia products are made by small family-run companies that take great pride in the quality of their work.
The highly decorative packaging, designed by Sue Townsend, draws inspiration from exotic Sicilian imagery and colors.
The name Ortigia comes from the small island that sits at the edge of the ancient fortified city of Syracuse, on Sicily’s southeastern coast.
The streets of Ortigia are lined with crumbling baroque façades of great splendor, facing the sea on three sides.
The Piazza del Duomo is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
Located on the southeastern tip of Sicily, this part of the island is known as Eastern Sicily, due to its proximity to Africa and its almost tropical climate.
In the rich volcanic soil of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano, thrive countless groves of orange and lemon trees — the only place where blood oranges grow — as well as grapefruit, almonds, pistachios, saffron, vines, olives, and cactus plants.
