Chembra
It is at dusk, when the heat and humidity of the day awaken the full splendor of cardamom’s scent. Anisha closes her eyes, breathes deeply, and remembers her beloved with both sweetness and sorrow.
Many years ago, they fled together from her father’s palace toward the mountains of southern India. In their escape, she hurriedly took only a few pieces of luxurious silk, two gemstone bracelets her father had given her for her last birthday, and some pods of cardamom: a spice whose fragrance had always fascinated her.
Upon reaching Chembra, the highest mountain in Kerala, she planted the seeds, and together they established one of the region’s most important plantations.
Now that her beloved is no longer with her in this life, she climbs at sunset, higher than the lake, closes her eyes, breathes, and remembers him forever from her mountain, Chembra.
The floral aroma of incense evokes distant memories, blending with sandalwood and amber in a magical journey to the past.
